ABOUT US
In 2011, Yasmeen began elementary school at Citizens of the World- Hollywood, a unique environment which stressed the importance of social-emotional learning (SEL). Her sisters Elina and Ayana soon followed her there. Over the years, the teachers at CWC-H helped us focus on developing self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills for school, work, and life success. Part of this was an awareness of diverse perspectives and conflict resolution.

Like virtually every other family during the pandemic, our educational path was interrupted by the switch to distance learning. We were fortunate to have a safe home and the company of each other. During that time, we had to turn to creative ways to have fun. We revived a pastime from when we were even younger… board games! We had a blast, while learning to strategize, bluff, win and lose (not always happily).
From this educational journey, Board Game Blast was born. We were already aware that not every child was as fortunate as us and that not every home or school has access to board games or the time and knowledge to teach young ones how to play. Beyond the fun, we had already learned from our earliest education that board games help in social emotional learning. So, how to share this bright spot during the pandemic, this fun and community, with others?

At Board Game Blast, we believe in the power of board games to bring joy to kids who play, to help them create meaningful friendships and connections, and concurrently foster learning. We are dedicated to sharing the unique power of board games to serve as a fun and educational activity and to supporting schools in their effort to create a diverse and inclusive environment for all.

As of February 2024, we are a 501(c)3!
As we head in to winter of 2025, we're excited to share a new chapter for BGB. With our grandmother's recent diagnosis of Alzheimer's and her upcoming move to an assisted living center, we thought about expanding our reach. Grammy's love for puzzles and the lively game room at her center inspired us to connect with assisted care and memory care facilities locally. We're thrilled to introduce BGB to the residents, bringing joy and companionship through board games. This is an exciting adventure for everyone involved!
